An experienced collaborator, Maija works in such a way as to merge two different disciplines into a reflective and experiential learning opportunity for artists and audiences alike.

Her most recent exhibition at Gods House Tower Southampton, with drawing and art educator Elizabeth Hammond, showed the results of their 6 month Turning Point bursary in which the artists explored the meeting of drawing, writing and performance.

Previous works by Maija include dialogues with the elements in the form of sun, wind, earth and water. Her paper starflowers (2019) were hung in a yew tree for eight months before being dipped in porcelain, fired, and exhibited alongside a meditative and elemental film 'Transmutation.' in 2021.

Maija pays particular attention to the dialogue between opposites. The contrast between , black and white, fire and water, self and other is explored. In this way, Maija's interest in balancing the conscious attention and the unconscious becomes a visibly active process in her work.
